
In 2010, Expert Approach's CEO LD Herrera was appointed as an Executive Vice President in
LISTA. Through his connections in Washington, DC, he intends to live up to his appointment and support the mission of
LISTA.
LISTA is an national organization geared toward the advancement and development of Hispanics in the information sciences, technology, the telecommunications industry other technical professionals to achieve educational excellence, economic opportunity and social equity and to empower our community through the use of technology to bridge the digital divide and help end poverty in less fortunate communities.
The Mission of
LISTA is to educate, motivate and empower the Latino Community with the use of technology and bring together a network of Hispanic technology and communications professionals who will be able to assist and engage each other whenever necessary. Imagine an organization of Hispanic communications professionals and buyers all across the globe, only a phone call away. With such a powerful organization on your side, there would be little, if anything you could not accomplish.

We will fulfill our mission by increasing educational opportunities, promoting professional and personal growth, carry out our social responsibility to be involved in education, business and government issues and enhancing pride within our organization and reinforcing our reputation as a vital Hispanic organization in our community.
LISTA is committed to the development of valuable Latino/as resources in the information technology and telecommunications industry which will empower the community.
The organization's primary objective is to accumulate a pool of information technology knowledge and business expertise in order to:
- Support the interest of those Latinos/as interested as a career or business opportunity.
- Provide a forum for the development of minority skills and interests within the IS, IT and telecommunications industry.
- Enhance awareness of the IT and telecommunications industry within the Latino minority community.
- Actively participate in events supporting IT, IS and Telecommunications industry goals.
- Bring technology to empower the Latino community and give assistance and training to the under-privileged.
LISTA Programs:
Youth Outreach: LISTA conducts school mentoring programs where once every 2 months we have senior
LISTA members speak to students in High Schools like Telecommunications HS in Brooklyn, Washington HS in Manhattan and Union Hill High School in New Jersey.
Workforce Development: We are committed to the newly arrived Latino by training English as second language, Basic Computer training, graphic design, C++, repair as well as networking in partnership with the Immigrant Foundation in association with LATINTECH and Perscholas. Once certified we assist them to use newly acquired skills to find jobs through our job bank and career center.
National Latino Alliance on Health Information Technology: Now, with our nation's healthcare system undergoing a major transformation,
LISTA embarks on its Health Technology Initiative. The National Latino Alliance on Health Technology has developed a four-tiered campaign, FASE, to bring to our healthcare professionals the same passion, commitment and information that has been the cornerstone of our work in the field of IT. Meanwhile, we will work to cultivate the next generation of HIT workers among the Latino students and professionals who have been
LISTA’s focus all along.
Project Dream: LISTA supports a program in Dominican Republic who is bringing technology to the poorest section of that country. We are supplying computer to Project Dream in order for them to teach an American curriculum to Dominican children in the Cordillera North East region of Dominican Republic through distance learning here in the States.
Partnerships: LISTA has memorandums of understanding with many National Organization, including United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Greater NY Chamber of Commerce, Black Data Processors Association (BDPA), Aspira, Small Business Administration, LULAC, Women’s Venture Fund, and Association of Chinese Computer Professionals(ACCP) amongst others.
LISTA Techno Centro: The ATLANTA CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN INFORMATION SCIENCES & TECHNOLOGY is a vital next step in this process, guaranteeing that a sustainable framework exists in our communities for increasing capacity among Hispanic, African American, and other traditionally underserved minority students and families for the understanding and mastery of information sciences and technology, for improving student academic performance in math, sciences and expanding their awareness of required academic and social preparation needed for careers in IS&T. Also for bridging the growing digital divide separating minority and non-minority families in our communities. The Center is designed to build engagement and functionality in information sciences and technology across underserved constituent groups in high-Hispanic density neighborhoods while developing the next generation of minority technology professionals and business owners.
Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology:
- Over 3,500 members in 13 chapters nationwide NY, NJ, CT, Mass, DC, TX (Dallas), FL,. Georgia, California (LA SF), Illinois (Chi), and more on the way.
- We boast an online community of over 65,000 subscribers.
- 60% of our members are IT or Telecom Professionals and small business owners (e.g. software developers, bus. analysts, architects, engineers, project managers, etc.)
- 25% are entrepreneurs and consultants small and medium size businesses.
- 10% are high school, Trade School, and college students
- 25% are managers senior executives and C-Level executives
- LISTA has a following of HS teachers, College, Tech Institutes and University professors and HR Recruiters
- Our members represent all age groups and all income levels (18-50)
- Our membership is geographically disbursed across the country and internationally.
