I recently received a letter
in the mail from:
The DOMAIN REGISTRY OF
AMERICA
2316 Delaware Avenue #266
Buffalo, New York
14216-2687
It's header says: Domain Name Expiration Notice.
It starts off like this:
As a courtesy to domain name holders, we are sending
you this notification of the domain name registration
that is due to expire in the next few months. When
you switch today to the Domain Registry of America, you
can take advantage of our best savings. Your
registration for: DOMAIN NAME HERE will expire on
EXPIRATION DATE. Act today!
It is an official looking document that looks
like an invoice. This is not an invoice, but a
scam. Throw this document away, it is trash.
You should renew your domain with the company you
registered with, and not this company - unless you like
to pay way too much. Also, when you turn this
document over and look at the fine print - well, I have
never seen such small print. It's very difficult
to read and you may need a magnifying glass to read
it. It doesn't matter - this is trash. Throw
it away!
If you would like to transfer your domain to another
registrar because you are paying too much, contact
us
and we'll take care of you. You are paying too
much if you use Network Solutions, Register.com
or enom.com.
