As a military spouse, I ran across
something great that all
active-duty military
spouses need to know about. The US
Government is providing $6000 in
educational dollars to military spouses.
This is new money and is not part of any
other educational funding plans like the
GI Bill.
I have not seen any news about it on my
base and I have friends across the
country that have not seen or heard anything
either. It took me a while to find
the right place to go. This is an
expansion of an older plan that was
limited to select bases. All the
links I found originally pointed to the
old plan.

This is a great solution to many problems. This is economic stimulus.
This addresses nationwide education issues - not for all, but it is a good
start. Military spouses generally make less money than the rest of the
nation. Education goes a long way to helping remedy this disparity.
I don't know what part she had in this program, but it looks to me like we have
a champion for our cause. Thank you First Lady Michelle Obama.
